Williams Libraries seeks an innovative and collaborative systems librarian to provide leadership, manage the Libraries' systems, and administer the Libraries' library services platform and auxiliary systems. This is a full-time, continuing, appointment reporting to the Head of Collections & Systems.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the Libraries' library services platform (currently Ex Libris' Alma) and related systems, including our:
- Discovery service (currently Ex Libris Primo VE)
- Authentication (currently EZProxy and Shibboleth configurations)
- Archival management system (currently ArchivesSpace)
- Digital assets management system and institutional repository (currently Alma Digital)
- Integration of interlibrary loan and document delivery management systems (currently RapidILL, ILLiad)
- Storage facility inventory system (currently CAIAsoft)
- Maintain security and access control of library systems
- In consultation with the E-resources Librarian and the User Experience Librarian, ensure the discoverability of e-resources in the Libraries’ patron facing discovery service
- Collaborate with Libraries and Information Technology colleagues to develop and implement information policies
- Collect, maintain, and present system-generated data and statistics
- Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot library specific equipment and software
- Provide technical support and training to libraries’ staff to facilitate the effective use of library-specific software and equipment
Required Qualifications:
- ALA-accredited MLIS degree, or equivalent mix of education and experience
- 2+ years of experience in a relevant field
- Knowledge of the organization and description of library collections
- Familiarity with scripting languages
- Ability to prioritize and organize complex workflows
- Aptitude for critical thinking and problem solving
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the Ex Libris Alma system
- Knowledge of current and emerging trends and technologies related to library services
- Ability to produce reports and presentations
- Participation with professional associations and conference presentations
This position is eligible for hybrid alternative work arrangements with remote work up to 2 days per week for employees based in MA, CT, NY or VT following a fully in-person onboarding period.
